The Day My Grandmother Got Married

Yay, Blogging!

I’ve been pushing this one off for awhile... I seem to be afraid of writing, and then people reading it, for no real reason. Starting my business was a risk, and taking risks and doing things that make you uncomfortable is important to keep pushing yourself to grow.

What better way to start blogging, but with your grandmother’s wedding…

So hereeeee we go!

Alrighty, so I thought I would put Darlene and Roy in the spotlight.

BUT I have to go back and give you some details first.

First off, this is my beautiful grandmother.

She is the caretaker of the family & helps everyone stay connected in our large family.

She is:

  • A mother to 13 children ( a great party trick for me in college to name them all quickly in the order they were born)

  • A great dancer

  • 86 years young

  • 4 foot something

  • the hardest worker

  • & in love with Roy

Ever since she was little she knew she wanted to have a large family.

She had met my Grandfather young, and they got married, moved to California, and started their family.

That was all the rage back then ;)

But then in the 90’s my grandpa passed away, when he was only in his 50’s.

I can’t even try to think about how this felt

she probably thought that there wouldn’t be another man to love her like he did.

But then along came Roy.

The man ready to love her for better or worse

Finding love once is amazing! And finding love twice in this life double amazing!

Go Grandma!

So Darlene & Roy got married July 27th, 2019.

The lovely couple have a cute how we met story: Roy met Darlene at a dance.

They quickly became dance partners and then best friends.

They dated, and as of last weekend, GOT MARRIED!

Guys… they met dancing

They wanted to get married, and in two weeks, with the help of my aunts and uncles, they got all the bases covered.

The ceremony was held at a church and the reception was held at my uncle and aunts house, with a pool party. The family all mingled and jumped in the pool. We got to see family we hadn’t seen in a long time, and catch up with them.

I was happy to be behind my camera, and see the family all come together for Grandma Darlene and Roy.

My husband Spencer was singing and dancing to old country music, Roy approved.

Grandma Darlene is always dancing. We went to Berryessa Brewery last year and there was music, so naturally, she got up and started dancing in front of the band.

Was anyone else dancing?

Nope.

Just Darlene.

One of my favorite things about my grandmother

I think the saying Dance like no one is watching… is based on her.

L e t ’ s a l l b e m o r e l i k e D a r l e n e

Be the first person on the dance floor,

love with your whole heart,

and laugh at everything… even yourself.

Cheers!
